Māori whakapapa is required for most grades, but in some grades (Pakeke Mixed, Kōeke Mixed and Whaikaha) non-Māori who are the spouses or de facto partner of a Māori person are also elegible to play. Please check with your iwi rep for eligibility details.

Some iwi join with others, or you might be able to trial for a roopu team. Contact us if you're unsure.

Iwi teams represent hapū/iwi groups. Roopu teams were formed in the early years to make up numbers while iwi were getting set up with Poitūkohu.
